Harlie Holt

Artist

Harlie Holt was born in a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Harlie, her mom and sister, moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming in 2010 to be with her dad. Art was a hobby for Harlie throughout school. She graduated from Sheridan College in 2019 with an Associate Degree in Fine Art. After college, Harlie became a Sheridan resident and worked for a few local art studios. In August of 2021, she turned her hobby into a career and became a full-time artist, starting her own business, Modern Hermit Studio. To Harlie, creating art lead her to a spiritual awakening. She has found that creating art helped guide her emotions in a meaningful and productive manner.

Harlie spends her time living moment to moment. She spends most of her time with her 2 dogs and partner making an art filled life together. When she gets the chance to travel and see friends and family she makes sure to stop at all the local businesses along the way and appreciates those moments in new environments with the people she loves.

Harlie is influenced by Western American animals that can be seen primarily in her woodburnings and paintings. These works of art are sure to include paper clippings, anatomy, layered landscapes, 1960s-1970s aesthetic, flowing emotion, complementary colors, and color harmony. She has spent a lot of time finding her art form which has grown into a collage-mix media style. She also embraces other techniques such as pottery, sculpture and embroidery.
