Karen Barton resides in Buffalo WY and has been pursuing her art career since childhood. She was educated in graphics early in her college years and thereafter worked as a full time line artist in a studio called Keyes Art Service in Phoenix.
After moving to Gillette, as a wife and mother, she continued to freelance and in 1988 discovered pastels, and began her official career as a portrait artist. She has illustrated a published children's book and taught workshops during those years while continuing as a portraitist.
In the last 6 years she has explored acrylics and has produced a full range of subjects including wildlife and landscapes. Her work can be found in local and regional galleries in Wyoming and South Dakota.
