Melissa Stewart

Artist & Photographer

I spent the first 17 years living in Rockford Minnesota, then moved to Sheridan Wyoming. Where I aimlessly went to college, getting generals out of the way, not knowing what I truly wanted to do. Between semesters, consisted of working back in Minnesota, doing concierge services. After graduating with my Associates in Science in 2018, I then moved back to Minneapolis and started my own concierge business, at the age of 23. I manage the business personally, have recommendation letters and have had a total of five subcontractors.

While going to college I completed Drawing and Digital Photography classes, both of which helped me to see things in a different perspective. Sparking an interest in nature photography and deciding I wanted to draw on something besides paper, I started working with wood. I have been given the opportunity to do multiple commissioned pieces, all with satisfied customers in surrounding states. Recently, one of my photos was chosen by a blind jury, for the 7th Annual National Juried Photography Show here at SAGE Community Arts.

I absolutely love being outdoors, camping, hiking, rollerblading, paddleboarding, drawing, working on wood projects, spending time with family and taking photos. Often times, we get so wrapped up in life, we forget to pause, to see the simple beauties “parts” of this world. Being able to share these “parts” with others, is what makes me whole.
