Nathan has spent thousands of hours honing his artistic abilities across a wide range of disciplines. From painting and drawing, to steel and wood sculpture, iron and bronze casting, leatherwork, printmaking, photography, custom vehicles and motorcycles, street art, and digital design, the drive to create is present in every aspect of his life. Alongside his craft, he has also developed a distinct voice for speaking about his life in the third person. When he’s not actively making artwork, you might find Nathan exploring the beautiful Bighorn Mountains near his hometown of Sheridan Wyoming, conquering a daily morning workout, taking on building and home renovation projects, creating designs for his brands Full Time Artist and Sheridan Outlaw Supply, or running Main Frame, his frame shop and studio with his brothers in downtown Sheridan, Wyoming. Nathan lives and works in Sheridan, his home for all 31 years of his life, with his wife, Callie, and their newborn son, Jett.
The Old West is often romanticized, rewritten, or forgotten, but its spirit remains. Likewise, street art covering city walls is temporary, painted over, and reimagined, yet its essence lingers. My work draws attention to this cycle. Through layered surfaces that are built up, obscured, and at times defaced, my paintings explore and characterize how history is revised but never erased. The figures I paint represent resilience, with legacies weathered but lasting. The West may change, but like a mural covered with a fresh layer of paint from a rattle can, its distinct marks will remain.
I embrace this impermanence. By merging traditional Western portraiture with modern graffiti, my canvases connect eras and create a feeling both historic and
contemporary. Rather than glorifying or dismantling the myth of the West and the prominent figures who built the narrative, I contribute to it by adding my own layer. My artwork honors what was, acknowledges what is, and leaves space for what comes next.
