Lynn Jones Personal Statement Nature continues to amaze me. It is not unusual to find me stopping on the trail to capture the forest flora or the afternoon light coming through the aspens. I’ll stop the car anywhere and snap the perfect clouds, sunset or the approaching storm. I see paintings everywhere. I just need to get them out of my head and onto paper. I love watercolor and play in pastel, but my true fascination is with professional colored pencil. Leading a busy life, this medium is perfect for stopping when I need to and picking it back up later. I love to capture flowers, realistic but with that sparkle of fantasy and always larger than life. I love the flowers of Georgia O’Keefe and Van Gogh, full of color and personal style. I hope you enjoy my work and my classes and perhaps purchase a piece to fill your home with a little nature. About the Artist Lynn Jones has been an artist all of her life, but her path was encouraged by her high school art teacher. While continuing in college and earning her art degree, she sold her first oil painting to the Dean of the College. Her Bachelor degree continued into International Business and then she obtained a Master of Business Administration. However, she has always been creative; sewing, quilting, jewelry design, a bridal business, interior design and gardening. It is this last passion that inspires her art today. She teaches art classes in-person and online in professional colored pencil, watercolor and soft pastel. As well as teaching formal classes, she also gives private lessons and accepts commissions. She has lived in Wyoming for over 30 years with sales, classes and exhibits around all 50 states. She was recently awarded the Governor’s Choice Award in the 2026 Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition.
